RESPONSIBILITY

The most responsible choice for swimwear would be to swim nude. We cannot produce a 100% sustainable product, but we do our best.

Our swimwear is handmade in Finland from recycled fabric and printed at a Finnish printing house. We know exactly where our environmental impact lies and we trust Finnish expertise.

How is Saimaa Sealskin made?

1. The Saimaa Sealskin team brainstorms new designs

2. Reetta unleashes her creative chaos and draws the patterns

3. Ari starts the printing presses in Aitoo

4. Mia takes the fabrics into her hands in Espoo

5. Our team sends the products from the logistics center (i.e., the garage) to impatient customers who can't wait

Saimaa Sealskin is committed to responsible consumption. We produce swimwear that lasts and fits real bodies. Only the wave remains. 🌊

Fabric

Our fabric travels the longest distance as it arrives overland from Italy. 78% recycled polyester and 22% elastane, both Oeko-Tex certified. This is our absolute minimum requirement, especially when it comes to the most precious parts of your body.

Printing

The printing takes place at Printscorpio's factory in Aitoo. They have the Key Flag symbol, and every fourth product is manufactured entirely with solar energy.

No PVC, no plastisol inks with questionable plasticizers. Only water-based inks. The pink in our swimsuits comes from tested, safe dyes. Printscorpio also invests in wastewater treatment and reducing environmental impact. We want to swim in Finland's clean waters without leaving a trace.

Laundry labels, product labels, and packaging

Size, wash, and product labels are ordered from the Finnish company Tuotenauha. The wash labels are made of polyester, and the product labels are 100% recycled paper. The shipping packaging is 80% recycled plastic.

There it is. The entire production chain, no secrets. Nordic craftsmanship doesn't need marketing gimmicks, it speaks for itself. 🦭
