Why Only Black?
In the summer of 2022, while boating on Lake Saimaa, we asked ourselves: why are there no Finnish swim briefs for men? The big brands mostly sell only black and dark blue. Are Finnish men really that boring? We didn't think so. So we let the idea mature and in the summer of 2023, we rolled up our sleeves.
Can You Make Swim Trunks in Finland?
We wondered the same. With the help of great partners, we got samples in hand and things got real. We also asked ourselves why nobody else in Finland makes anything comparable? Is it unprofitable? The quick answer: at these prices, it's barely profitable and more of a passion project. All profits from the swim trunks currently go into product development and building brand awareness.
Our dream, however, is to encourage people to buy Finnish craftsmanship, and to grow our reputation so that nobody thinks twice about ordering swim briefs from a Finnish online store. You can read more about our sustainability here.

Running a business naturally incurs costs, and we believe in being open about pricing. The figures shown represent the cost structure for a single pair of swim briefs. Most of the price goes toward manufacturing and materials, while a portion covers VAT and operating expenses. Any remaining margin we reinvest in product development, marketing, and building the Saimaa Sealskin brand.
